A keyword extraction unit (108) extracts a plurality of character strings from an electronic document (101) according to information in a keyword management unit (107). An operation decision unit (110) references an operation definition management unit (109) and decides an effect operation associated with the keyword matched with the extracted character strings. An execution operation instruction unit (114) decides a character string to execute effect operation from the extracted character strings and instructs it to an output control unit (111). The output control unit (111) controls the effect operation by an output unit (103) according to the instruction from the execution operation instruction unit (114).
