<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To show music data by a music recognition means on a display in real time when the music data are included in a content of TV broadcasting and the like. <P>SOLUTION: A music data display system 1 extracts information on a characteristic quantity by a characteristic quantity information extracting device 4 from the music information included in a content of TV broadcasting and the like received by a tuner 3, and transmits the information on a characteristic quantity to a server 9 through the Internet 11. The server 9 recognizes the music by carrying out the matching of the information on a characteristic quantity and the music data included in a music information database 10, and transmits information on a music title, information on an artist, and the like corresponding to the music to the characteristic quantity information extracting device 4 as the recognition result. The recognition result received by the characteristic quantity information extracting device 4 is associated with the content including the original music information and recorded in a storage device 5.
