<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image display apparatus and a stereoscopic image display method, which are capable of embodying a more realistic stereoscopic image by making it possible to freely switch between a 2D mode and a 3D mode by a parallax barrier liquid crystal panel according to a choice made by a user, and by increasing the feeling resolution and luminance of a stereoscopic image embodied in the 3D mode. <P>SOLUTION: The stereoscopic image display apparatus comprises: a display panel for displaying an image ; and a parallax barrier panel disposed opposite the display panel and including at least one first barrier zone and at least a pair of first and second transmission zones adjacent to each other between the first barrier zones.
