PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of satisfying demands of the uniformity and the rapidity of the moving speed of a focus lens varied in accordance with the driving circumstances of the camera. SOLUTION: In an AF driving mechanism 50, a shaft body 54 on which a focus lens 16A is slidably held by a moving body 60 is moved at high speed or low speed by a piezoelectric element 56, whereby the focus lens 16A is driven to be focused. When the focus lens 16A is moved to an AF searching start position, the holding force of the moving body 60 is decreased to make the moving speed of the focus lens 16A high. At the time of AF searching, the holding force of the moving body 60 is increased to restrain the variance of the moving amount of the focus lens 16A.
