PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which can perform printing for which consumables and the printing period of time are efficiently used by performing the remaining amount detection for consumables such as a coloring material and paper. SOLUTION: The remaining amount detecting section performs the remaining amount detection for the coloring material such as an ink or a cartridge, and the paper of which the printing length can be changed. When the remaining amount is sufficient, an image treatment is performed on the printer side. When the remaining amount exceeds a threshold value, the image treatment is performed on the host side. On the host side, the image treatment for image data is performed, and at the same time, the analysis for a coloring material consumption amount. As the result of the performance of the analysis for the coloring material consumption amount, the propriety for printing is judged by the remaining amount of consumables. When the printing is possible, the image data is printed, When it is judged that the printing is impossible, whether the printing is possible by changing the image treating method or not is judged. When it is judged that the printing is impossible even if the imaging method is changed, a user is informed that the image data cannot be printed. Then, the analysis of next image data is performed, and if the printing of the image data is possible, the printing is performed with priority.
