PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and a client apparatus capable of applying processing to document data after restoration while properly coping with revision of a version at the apparatus side in the case of backing up and restoring the document data. SOLUTION: When the image processing apparatus 10 with a storage function of document data receives and restores document data backed up in the client apparatus 20 connected to the image processing apparatus 10, in the case that version information backed up by the client apparatus 20 together with the document data to be restored is compatible with version information managed by the image processing apparatus 10 in the case of restoration, the image processing apparatus 10 stores the document data to be restored as they are. When the version information items are not compatible with each other, the image processing apparatus receives image data included in the document data to be restored and generates attribute information corresponding to the image data and stores them as document data.
