PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support plate having lightweight the upper plate of a cylinder frame and a connection between the upper plate and a vertical wall by reducing a bending load applied to the upper plate. SOLUTION: The support plate 9 for mounting on the upper plate 6 of the cylinder frame of a large two-stroke internal combustion engine has an annular upward surface 8 supporting the annular downward surface 7 of a cylinder liner 1, and a downward surface 10 resting on the upper plate 6, with the downward surface 10 located radially outwards of the annular upward surface 8. Because the downward surface 10 of the support plate 9 rests on the upper surface of the cylinder frame 30 to transmit the compressive force of a stay bolt 33 from the cylinder liner 1 to the vertical wall 11 of the cylinder frame, the bending load applied to the upper plate 6 is reduced.
