A tank of the floating roof type is provided with an anti-rotational device for the roof consisting of a cable 97, Fig. 3, connected to an anchorage 70 and a tensioning device 80 mounted on an anchorage 60. The cable is made of stainless steel and passes through a sealed tube 96 in the roof and through a cable guiding mechanism 110 which may be modified as described with reference to Figs. 8 - - 12 (not shown). The tensioning device, Fig. 4, consists of two rigidly inter-connected pistons 85, 90 which are vertically-adjustably and non-rotatably mounted in a cylinder 82, a spring-loaded intermediate piston 92 being constrained for likewise movement between the pistons 85, 90.
