<p>The guiding device for the cycled feed of sheets (2) in a feed direction in the region of a sheet feeder on a feed board (1) of especially a printing press has a front lay mark (3) for the alignment of the leading edge of the leading sheet of a sheet stream, and a hold-down device (5) which in the cycle of the feeding sheets can be lifted and lowered in relation to the feed board. The hold-down device is driven to move from its raised position into its lowered position on a movement path opposite to the direction (4) of sheet feed and approaching the feed board.</p>
