A road wheel carrying arm 30 journalled to the vehicle underframe 7 at 31 carries a nylon socket 33 for a ball joint connection with the cylinder of a hydraulic shock absorber 11 which is connected to the frame 7 via a rubber spring 1 and a metal box structure 4. The leverage between the road wheel and the spring I is 5 to 1. Shims may be inserted between the ball 21 and the end 19 of the shock absorber cylinder into which it screws, in order to take up wear.
