<p>A U-nut type fastener installation tool, installs individual U-nut fasteners (10) from a vertically stacked, nested, or collated strip or array (112,212) of such fasteners (10) disposed within a magazine (114,214). The vertically nested, array (112,212) is biased toward the dispensing station or position by means of a spring member (216), and a wedge-shaped member (130,260) is adapted to be driven between an endmost one (10EM) of the fasteners and the remaining fasteners (10) to separate the endmost one (10EM) from the remaining fasteners (10). The endmost fastener (10EM) is driven onto the edge portion of the support plate or panel (120). The wedge shaped, fastener separator-driver (130,260) may be either pneumatically driven or manually driven whereby the installation tool may comprise either a pneumatically-operable tool (110) or a manually operable tool (210). <IMAGE> <IMAGE></p> |
