A car radar measures objet distance and relative velocity by transmitting signal sequences with time alternating segments (A1-3, B1-3) of different frequencies fT(t) so that the dominant reflected difference frequencies (fHUB, A, B) provide distance information and the difference in difference frequencies provides speed. Independent claims are included for the procedures used by the unit.
