A rectangular plastic data card B with means for carrying encoded data which has a recess or protrusion A adjacent an edge of a surface for engagement with a user's thumbnail to assist removing the card from a pocket, whereby the recess or protrusion A is other than an alphanumeric character or array of characters or a hole passing through the card adjacent the edge. Preferably the card B is of a conventional size. The recess or protrusion A may be in the shape of an arc located 5 to 8 millimetres from the edge and either cut, moulded or embossed. The card B may be a credit, telephone, security or identity card may include a magnetic strip and alphanumeric user information. The card B may be used in a wallet whereby the recess or protrusion A remains visible when inserted into a pocket. |
