A pre-packed meal is produced by cooking a carbohydrate-containing base material in the form of a plurality of elements, cooling the carbohydrate-containing base material when cooked by passing air therethrough and thereby separating the elements, frying the elements in vegetable oil and/or fat to harden the outside of the elements and to add a fat content to the carbohydrate-containing base material, mixing precooked meat and/or vegetables therewith in dietic proportion to the carbohydrate-containing base material and sealing the mixture in a container. The preferred carbohydrate-containing base material is rice which is cooked with added minerals, vitamins and salts by pressure cooking. Vegetable proteins, dried fruits and spices may be added to the mixture. The term "meat" includes fish. |
