A graphics unit generates a graphical representation of a virtual control panel based on predefined graphical interface, and registers it in a fixed relation to a portable identification element (3) based on element position, to produce control panel. A display unit (7) shows a view comprising the control panel to a user. An application unit performs actions in response to users interactions with the panel. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) program for enabling interaction of user with virtual control panel; and (2) computer readable medium storing program for enabling interaction of user with virtual control panel.
