A panel 21 is formed with shoulders 33 at opposite sides of a hole 24 and the shoulders trap beneath them ears 29 extending from a flange 22 on a nut 24 to retain the nut and prevent its turning. The ears 29 are trapped by detents 39 depending from ears 38 of a locking-ring 36 retained by a circlip 28 fitted in a nut groove 27, the ears 38 fitting over pockets 32 struck from the panel, each leaving a hole and producing a shoulder 33 joined to the panel 21 by an end wall 34 and a side wall 35. Instead of being a close fit in the panel hole 24 as in Fig. 2, a spigot base 23 of the nut may float with respect to the panel. In a modification, Figs. 6-11 (not shown), the holes, left in the panel (41) by shoulders (52) and their risers (50), are narrow, straight-sided extensions of the main hole (44), there being no side walls to the shoulders. The nut (40), Fig. 8 (not shown), is located by the sides (54) of a notch (53) in the nut flange flanking a riser (50), and a tongue (55) opposite the notch is trapped beneath the opposite shoulder (52) by a four-sided box extension (58-60) of a circlip, Fig. 10 (not shown). There is no locking ring nor spigot base to the nut in this embodiment. In another modification, Figs. 12, 13 (not shown), a nut similar to that of Fig. 2, but with no spigot base, is retained with its ears beneath shoulders (52) like those of Fig. 6 (not shown), by a locking ring, with two opposed box extensions similar to those on the circlip in Fig. 10 (not shown), and retained by a simple circlip in the same manner as the ring 36 in Fig. 2.
