A passive continuous positive airway intratracheal pulmonary ventilation sys tem which includes an inspiration limb (70) and an expiration limb (71) which are pressure balanced by inflatable bags (73a, 73 b). An intratracheal pulmonary ventilation system is pro vided which includes a catheter (82) having a tip (90) which is positioned through a low resistance endotracheal tube (81) at or near a pa tient's carina (92). A constant source of an oxygen-containing gas flows through the catheter (82). The catheter has a tip (90) which deflec ts and reserves the flow direction of the oxygen-containing gas. |
