The proposed method for removing ruthenium in the presence of rhodium, palladium, and non-ferrous metals in their salt solutions consists in producing complex chemical compounds of the said metals with organic reagents, consequently isolating compounds of palladium, color metals, and ruthenium by extraction using organic solvent, measuring the optical density of the extracts and determining the content of ruthenium by the data on the optical density. As the organic regent for producing rutheniumcompounds, salicylic aldehyde hydrazone is used. The method is distinctive by adding, to the reaction medium, alkaline dye with maximal absorption of optical radiation in the 540 ... 585 nm wavelength range. Ruthenium is isolated as ion associate [Ru(HL)2]AF+, where (HL)2 is alyltiosemicarbazone salicylidenhydrazone, AF+ is alkaline dye with maximal absorption of optical radiation in the 540 ... 585 nm wavelength range.
