The proposed method for determining content of selenium in water solution consists in preparing buffer solution that contains 2 cm3 of chromium oxide, 4 cm 3 of diethanolamine, 2 cm3 of cetyltrimethylammonium, and 2 cm3 of distilled water, mixing the analyzed water solution with the buffer solution, passing the mixed solution through a quartz capillary, determining the optical density of the solution by a spectrophotometer at optical radiation wavelength of 254 nm, determining the area of the peak on the electrophoregram that corresponds to selenium, and determining the content of selenium by the said peak area.
