A structural building member is made of a phenol-aldehyde resin foam to which a granulated filler has been added before curing, the filler consisting of a mixture of coarser granules of particle size 10 to 20 mm. and of finer granules of particle size 3 to 5 mm. of expanded clay or expanded-shale. Fibrous materials, e.g. of glass, asbestos or plastics material may also be incorporated. The resin, hardener and blowing agent may be mixed together followed by the introduction of the mixed constituents of the filler and further mixing. The mixture may then be introduced into a mould followed by foaming and curing. |
