The method involves filling a cylinder with fresh air, after a request for cylinder disconnection. A given quantity of fuel is injected, after a request for cylinder resetting, in the cylinder`s intake/compression phase before the end of the compression phase, and the mixture is ignited. A double injection of fuel is performed in a fractioned homogeneous operating mode to adapt the moment during the resetting of a disconnected cylinder. An independent claim is also included for a hybrid vehicle comprising a multicylinder internal combustion engine coupled to an electrical machine.
