An elevator bolt detecting device provided detects the existence of the bolts of guide rails. The elevator bolt detecting device comprises guide rails composed of unit rails, seam plates for jointing the unit rails, bolts for fixing the seam plates and the unit rails, an elevator cage adapted to be guided by the guide rails, a bolt detecting sensor head disposed to face the guide rails thereby to detect the bolts, and a bolt detection deciding unit for deciding the presence/absence of the bolts with information coming from the bolt detection sensor head. A mover position/speed detecting device provided detects the position/speed of a mover moving at a high speed. The mover position/speed detecting device comprises a light source for irradiating a stationary construction around the mover with a light, first and second cameras for photographing the surface image of the stationary construction, a half mirror disposed so that the photographic ranges of the first and second cameras at the stationary time of the mover may overlap at least partially, and an image processing unit for detecting the position/speed of the mover with the image data of the first and second cameras. The first and second camera have different starting instants for taking the images.
