PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device in which the generation of discharge is suppressed and atmospheric pressure-resistant strength is improved. SOLUTION: Between a first substrate 10 in which a fluorescent face 16 is formed and a second substrate 12 at which a plurality of electron discharge sources 18 are installed, a plurality of spacers 30 supporting atmospheric pressure loads to act on these substrates are installed. Each spacers has a first spacer 30a erected and installed on the fluorescent face of the first substrate and a second spacer 30b erected and installed on the second substrate in line with the first spacer, and the first spacer and the second spacer are joined to each other via a height moderating layer 32 deformable in the height direction of the spacer.
