FILE REPRODUCING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file reproducing apparatus 20 which smoothly and quickly starts the reproduction of a file from the middle position of the file that is required to obtain the information of a header region of the file in order to start reproduction from the middle position of the file. SOLUTION: A means 21 selects reproduction start possible positions of N pieces or less for a file to be reproduced as selection positions. A means 22 extracts information required for starting reproduction from the selection position as reproduction start enabling information from the header region of the file to be reproduced read at the reproduction start of the file to be reproduced and stores it. A means 23 performs the fast forwarding or fast running of the file to be reproduced when the means 23 receives the indication of fast forwarding or fast running from a user during the reproduction of the file to be reproduced. A means 24 starts the reproduction of the file to be reproduced based on the reproduction start enabling information from the selection position when the indication of fast forwarding or fast running from the user is released during performing the fast forwarding or fast running of the file to be reproduced.
