PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a servo writer capable of easily dealing with different kinds of servo signals. SOLUTION: The servo writer 1 is provided with a plurality of signal generation circuits 46a and 46b for writing a plurality of servo signals in a magnetic tape MT, a switch 47 for switching the signal generation circuits 46a and 46b for generating servo signals indicated by kind information based on the kind information indicating kinds of servo signals, a write driver 45 for writing servo signals in the magnetic tape MT by recording pulse currents generated by the signal generation circuits 46a and 46b, and a head 41.
