PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably restore a data file stored in an original storage device to a new storage device in the event that the original storage device is replaced by the new storage device due to the failure of the original device. SOLUTION: Each time a transaction is completed, a transaction detail file is generated that stores detailed information such as merchandise sale data and accounting data processed in that transaction, and is transmitted to a host device. Based on the information stored in the transaction detail file, the data file is updated. At the time of recovery from the failure, the transaction detail file which has been transmitted is retrieved from the host device in the order of the transmission.
