PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biological substance immobilizing substrate constituted so as not only to cut off the fluorescence of a background emitted from a substrate but also to highly intensify the fluorescence and characterized in that generally used inexpensive and safe biological substance immobilizing films are arrayed in high density by densely and strongly holding the bio-substance immobilizing films on a reflecting film and spotting a sufficient amount of a bio-substance solution on a smaller area. SOLUTION: The biological substance immobilizing substrate 4 is constituted, by vertically providing a large number of glass columnar elements 3 on the upper surface of the substrate 1, on which a hydrophobic film 2 is deposited and applying the bio-substance immobilizing films to the surfaces of the glass columnar elements 3.
