PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device of a chill roller which can prolong a cyclic interval of cleaning cloth replacement by simply controlling a cleaning roller. SOLUTION: This cleaning device of the chill roller 6c comprises a dryer 3 for drying a web W printed by a printing unit 2, a cleaning device 4 equipped with the chill roller 6c for cooling the web W dried by the dryer 3, a cleaning device 12 equipped with a cleaning roller 14 for cleaning the peripheral surface of the chill roller 6c by bringing the cleaning roller 14 into contact with the peripheral surface of the chill roller 6c, and air cylinders 33a and 33b which bring the cleaning roller 14 into contact with the chill roller 6c and separating the former from the latter. In this cleaning device, a cleaning roller control part 40 is provided which controls the drive of the air cylinders 33a and 33b so as to bring the cleaning roller 14 into contact with the chill roller 6c and separate the former from the latter during cleaning the chill roller 6c, and also controls the drive of the air cylinders 33a and 33b so as to bring the cleaning roller 14 into contact with the chill roller 6c at least prior to the stop of the chill roller 6c whose speed is slowed, at the time of ending the operation of the printing unit 2.
