PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying nanocarbons, by which high purity nanocarbon can be easily obtained from a nanocarbon crude product containing carbon impurities. SOLUTION: The nanocarbon crude product is heated at a temperature at which the carbon impurities can be selectively oxidized in an oxidizing agent, which is brought into an endothermic oxidation reaction with carbon, so as to be purified. When the nanocarbons are carbon nanotubes, the oxidizing agent which is brought into the endothermic oxidation reaction is gaseous carbon dioxide, and one of the carbon impurities is amorphous carbon, the amorphous carbon 8 is oxidized and removed and only a layer 7 of carbon nanotubes remains at a heating temperature of≤600°C, as shown in Fig.(c).
