PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll stopper having improved quality by preventing the mixture of foreign matter including dirt and dust and having improved working efficiency by setting the roll stopper on a machine in the state of being mounted thereon. SOLUTION: The roll stopper 1 comprises a cylindrical part 2 having a collar portion 3 formed at one end and a top face portion 10 formed at the other end with an opening hole 9 in the center and a cover 4 detachably provided for the opening hole 9 and mounted on the top face portion 10 via a string 11. The stopper 1 is fitted into both sides of a core 12 on which the roll 13 is wound. When it is set on the machine which has a supporting shaft is moved out of both right and left sides, two right and left covers 4 are automatically pushed off by inserting the shaft therethrough. Thus, attachment/detachment of the cover 4 is automatically performed for improved working efficiency. The cover 4 is fixed thereto until just before mounted on the machine, thereby preventing the mixture of foreign matters including water, dust or insects and securing product quality.
