PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for providing online billing in an IMS network. SOLUTION: An IMS gateway system receives a first message from CSCF for a call cession through a first interface, and processes the first message to determine whether or not to communicate with OCS for online billing related to the call session. If the determination is to communicate with the OCS, then the IMS gateway system creates a second message included with a billing request to be transmitted to the OCS. The IMS gateway system links a field for the first message in a first protocol to fields for the second message in a second protocol to be used by the OCS, and then transmits the second message to the OCS through a second interface.
