PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk reproducing apparatus which can reproduce audio data of 2 channel stereo without performing operation of switching of a layer and selection of area. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a reproducing part reproducing audio data recorded in first and second recording layers and management information managing audio data, an output setting part setting an output of the audio data to 2 channel output or multi-channel output, a discrimination part discriminating whether stereo area exists in the first recording layer or not from the management information, and a control part controlling the reproducing part so that audio data of the 2 channel stereo recorded in the stereo area of the first recording layer are reproduced when the 2 channel output is set by the output setting part and the discriminating part discriminates the the stereo area exists in the first recording layer.
