PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape printing apparatus capable of surely separate a printing head and a platen sticking together even after a tape cassette is reserved for a long time at a pressing position without mounting the tape cassette. SOLUTION: A cassette cover 15 is equipped with a pressing cam 17 which is brought into contact with a roller holder 19 and presses to the pressing position A under its closing condition, and a retreating cam part 16 which presses a retreating cam receiving part 32 provided on the roller holder 19 on a process moving from a closing condition to an opening condition and returns it to a retreating position B. As the retreating cam part 16 forcibly presses the retreating cam receiving part 32 provided on the roller holder 19 when the cassette cover 15 is opened, even after the tape cassette 8 is not mounted and is stored at a pressing position A for a long time, the thermal head 13 and the platen roller 18 sticking together can be surely separated from each other.
