PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated titanium dioxide pigment which gives off a small amount of volatiles at high temperatures, has a controlled surface activity and improved weather and light resistance. SOLUTION: The surface-coated titanium dioxide pigment is surface-coated with silica and alumina in an aggregate amount of 2-15 wt% and gives off volatiles in an amount of≤0.30 wt%, when heated from 105°C to 300°C. The surface-coated titanium dioxide pigment is favorably used as a colorant, for example, for a thermoplastic resin composition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
