The motor vehicle airbag, to protect the occupants from injury in the event of an impact collision, is stored while folded at the roof of the vehicle (10) to unfold downwards as a curtain on inflation. A folded section (17) of the airbag is at the roof frame (11) on the longitudinal vehicle line, with a further section (21) folded inwards at a folding point (20) in a roof strut (15), over the windscreen (14) and across the vehicle. The airbag assembly is held in place by structured fasteners (18,19,22,23).
