<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the wear of the main body of a cutter roll by a cutting blade of the cutter roll for producing a chopped strand from a glass fiber strand. <P>SOLUTION: A cutting device of the glass fiber strand is equipped with a rotating support roll, and the cutter roll comprising a plurality of cutting blades arranged separately and radially on the main body supported with a rotating shaft parallel to the rotating shaft of the support roll so that the glass fiber strand is cut with the cutting blades between the two rolls by inserting and placing the lower edge sections of the cutting blades into slits formed on the periphery of the main body so as to press the cutting blades to the support roll. Two or more notch sections are formed apart from each other in the longitudinal direction of the main body of the cutter roll and rings made from a harder material than that of the main body of the cutter roll are set in the notch sections. The lower edge sections of the cutting blades installed on the cutter roll are brought into contact with and engaged with the rings so that cutting load of the cutting blades is substantially supported with the rings. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
