<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the accuracy of temperature control on a photoconductor within a definite range and to prevent an adverse effect caused by a soiled lens of a thermopile temperature sensor. <P>SOLUTION: This temperature detector for detecting the temperature of a heated body heated by a heating means, is equipped with a first non-contact temperature detection means, a second non-contact temperature detection means, and an air-flow generation means for generating an air flow. The first non-contact temperature detection means is provided for the heated body in a non-contacting manner to detect the temperature of the heated body corresponding to the amount of infrared radiation radiated from the heated body. The second non-contact temperature detection means is provided for the heated body in a non-contacting manner to directly detect the amount of convective heat or that of infrared radiation from the heated body, thereby detecting the temperature of the heated body.
