<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent coming off of a latching member 7 of a brake cable 4. <P>SOLUTION: This operation device for a parking brake for a vehicle is composed of an operation lever main body 2 of which base end part 2b is rotatably fixed to a car body, a guide drum integrally fixed to the base end part 2b of the operation lever main body 2, with a guide groove 10 formed in an outer circumference at an arc-shaped part, and a brake cable 4 of which one end part 4a is locked to the guide drum 5. The latching member 7 roughly shaped like a column is coaxially fixed to the brake cable 4 to expose an end part 4a. A rectangular cut 8 having a longer width than total length b of the latching member 7 is formed along the guide groove 10 continuously with the circular arc-shaped part (bottom part) 5a of the guide drum 5.
