<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking brake device capable of lowering the total height of a parking brake regardless of the size of a brake stroke. <P>SOLUTION: In the parking brake device 1, a brake cable BC is coupled to an operation system wherein an operating lever 20 is journaled to a base member 10 by a pivot axis 11, and the operation lever 20 is pulled to make the operation system pull the brake cable BC for braking. The parking brake device 1 comprises an arc-shaped ratchet plate 12 fixed to the base member 10, and pole 31 meshed with the rachet plate 12 by interlocking with pulling/raising operation of the operating lever 20, capable of holding the operation system in a braking state pulling the brake cable BC, and arranged on the operation system. The ratchet plate 12 has an arc-shaped curvature center positioned on the pivot axis 11 side, and a teeth portion 12a meshed with the pole 31 is formed to the curvature center side.
