PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode tube device in which damages accompanying installation and replacement work of the cold cathode tube are prevented, safe and simple installation and maintenance are realized and further, sufficient light emitting luminance can be obtained even under low-temperature environment. SOLUTION: The cold cathode tube device is constructed of a cold cathode tube at both ends of which electrodes for impressing voltage are formed, a translucent support tube which has a larger diameter than the cathode tube and supports the cold cathode tube inside, and support tube electrode parts which are provided at the end part of the translucent support tube, and are connected respectively to the electrodes of the cold cathode tube. Since the cold cathode tube is supported inside the translucent support tube, it is prevented that a direct force is applied to a material relatively easily damaged such as a thin glass tube.
