PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an effect to be exerted on the pixel of the processing object of an error produced by a separate pixel. SOLUTION: This image processing apparatus is an apparatus which applies a half tone processing to an input image data, and generates printing data for arranging two or more kinds of predetermined dots whose densities per unit area are different in a main scanning direction and in a vertical scanning direction. The apparatus is provided with an error buffer for storing an error generated in a pixel of a half tone processing object, a history buffer for memorizing information on an update history of errors to be stored in the error buffer, and a determination processor for determining whether or not the predetermined dots are formed to generate printing data in reflection of errors stored in the error buffer on the pixel of the processing object. Prior to the determination whether or not the dots are formed, the determination processor finds a distance over which any updating of the error buffer in the vertical scanning direction is not performed on the basis of information memorized on the history buffer, and performs an error reflection reduction processing for reducing the effect of an error to be reflected on the pixel of the processing object, if the error buffer is not updated over a predetermined distance.
