PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem with the conventional address driving circuit that cells of phosphors of different light emission colors are driven by the same signal and therefore an increase in electric power consumption and background light emission of a display screen is resulted. SOLUTION: In the method for driving the plasma display panel equipped with a plurality of first electrodes AR, AG, AB provided in correspondence to the phosphors of a plurality of light emission colors and a plurality of second electrodes YE arranged to intersect with the first electrodes, the first electrodes AR, AB for every light emission color provided in correspondence to at least one light emission color in the first electrodes are electrically put into an open state at the driving timings TROR, TROB of a portion in a driving period, and thereby, the gas discharge current flowing to the first electrodes for every light emission color is suppressed.
