PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article excellent in the prevention of leakage and excellently fitting the body shape of a wearer when worn, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The absorbent article (a napkin) 1 comprises a liquid-permeable front surface sheet 2, an impermeable rear surface sheet 3, and a liquid-retaining absorber 4 interposed between the sheets 2 and 3. The absorber 4 consists of a main absorber 41 disposed from a front part B to a rear part C of the napkin 1 and an auxiliary absorber 42 disposed in an excrement region facing part A. The auxiliary absorber 42 is formed by folding one absorbent sheet in such a way that the number of layers of the folded absorbent sheet varies from one end to the other end of the napkin in the longitudinal direction. Both ends of the auxiliary absorber 42 in the longitudinal direction of the napkin are not parallel to the cross direction of the napkin. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
