DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CLEANING VEGETABLE OR THE LIKE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for cleaning vegetables or the like enabling sure and efficient removal of foreign matters adhering to vegetables, the food or the like to clean them: and to provide a method for cleaning vegetables. SOLUTION: The device for cleaning vegetables 10 is provided with the following: a cleaning tank 12; a spraying means 14 spraying cleaning water in a lateral direction (F) in the cleaning tank 12; a conveying means 16 conveying an object to be cleaned in the cleaning tank 12 so that the object to be cleaned receives the flow of the cleaning water from an intersecting direction; a holding means 18 holding the object to be cleaned during conveyed so as not to be flown away; and a transferring means 20 transferring the object to be cleaned so as to forcedly vary the holding position where the object to be cleaned is held by the holding means 18. The device is designed so that cleaning effect is improved through transferring the object to be cleaned in an intersecting direction based on the water flow against high-speed water flow toward one direction to surely clean the object to be cleaned while removing the foreign matters adhering to the surface of the object.
