New polynucleotide encoding insect phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate-5-kinase, useful as a target for identification of insecticides, also new protein, vector and recombinant cells

Isolated polynucleotide (I) comprising a sequence that encodes a polypeptide (II) of sequence (2) of 562 amino acids (aa), reproduced, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) isolated polynucleotide (I) comprising a sequence with at least 75% identity with region 105-1796 of sequence (1), reproduced; (2) isolated polynucleotide (Ib) comprising a sequence that hybridizes under stringent conditions to the 105-1796 region of sequence (1); (3) recombinant vector containing (I), (Ia) or (Ib); (4) recombinant host cell that contains the vector of (3); (5) preparing an insect phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate-5-kinase (PIP5K; III) by culturing cells of (4); (6) purified protein having a sequence at least 80% identical with sequence (2); and (7) detecting an agent (X) that reduces the enzymatic activity of (III).
