PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimum product shape in molding a top cowl by a casting process.
SOLUTION: The top cowl 71 of an outboard motor has a belt-like wall thickness part 71c along the fore-and-aft direction L1 of the outboard motor. The wall thickness part 71c is projectingly formed inside of the top cowl 71. The top cowl 71 has an opening part of the mating surface with a bottom cowl 70, and the wall thickness part 71c is continuously formed from the opening edge of the front side to the opening edge of the rear side. The casting mold for manufacturing the top cowl forms the top cowl of the outboard motor with nonferrous metal. The casting mold is provided with an inlet pouring gate at the position corresponding to the one end part in the fore-and-aft direction of the outboard motor of the opening part of the top cowl, and an outlet pouring gate at the position corresponding to the other end part in the fore-and-aft direction of the outboard motor. The casting mold is provided with a top molten metal flowing space to the outlet side pouring gate from the inlet side pouring gate through the cowl top part, and a side molten metal flowing space to the outlet side pouring gate from the inlet side pouring gate through the cowl side direction to form so that the molten metal flow speed in the top molten metal flowing space is faster than the molten metal flow speed in the side molten metal flowing space.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
