PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit a sudden change in the flow rate of molten glass supplied to a forming vessel of a forming furnace through the downstream end of a supply tube and thereby avoid devitrification or the development of bubbles resulting from partial reduction of the flow rate or the stagnation of the molten glass.
SOLUTION: The supply tube 2 for the molten glass arranged at the downstream end of a supply pathway which leads the molten glass discharged from a melting furnace to the forming vessel 1a of the forming furnace 1 has a small-diameter tube section 2a with a small flow passage area in the upstream side, and a large-diameter tube section 2c with a large flow passage area arranged in the downstream side, and an enlarging diameter tube section 2b with a flow passage area which gradually enlarges toward the end of the downstream side is intercalated between the small-diameter tube section 2a and the large-diameter tube section 2c. Preferably, the small-diameter tube section 2a, the enlarging diameter tube section 2b and the large-diameter tube section 2c are integrally and continuously connected.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
|
