<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which, in the case where an image quality retaining process is not performed for a long time, the subsequent image quality retaining process is allowed at a short interval and, thereby, the average interval between image quality retaining processes is made constant. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an image quality retaining means for performing a prescribed control process for retaining image quality, and image formation counting means for counting the number of image formations. In the case where the image quality retaining process is performed at the completion of a series of image forming processes after the number of image formations counted from the execution of the previous image quality retaining process exceeds a threshold value, the surplus count to the threshold value in the number of image formations preformed from the execution of the image quality retaining process is carried over to a count to judge the execution of the following image quality retaining process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
