PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide configurations for realizing the optimal layout of indexes in a distributed index server. SOLUTION: This system in which index information is stored so as to be distributed by applying a plurality of index servers is configured to determine the layout destination of retrieval indexes set as the snapshot of registration indexes under the consideration of the data storage capacity, the number of access or data moving amounts of each index server. Thus, it is possible to effectively utilize the whole storage regions of a plurality of index servers, and to distribute a processing load corresponding to the number of access of each index server, and to perform index layout processing for minimizing data moving amounts due to the re-layout of the retrieval indexes.
