<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for controlling digital electronic products. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for controlling digital home electric appliances 4 by means of a control signal transmitter 1 and a signal receiver 3 is connected to a gate system 2 for controlling the digital home electric appliances 4. Start/stop operations of the gate system 2 are remote-controlled by the control signal transmitter 1. While the gate system 2 is stopped, a BIOS for executing start/stop switching is used to detect whether an external connection port 20 is connected to the signal receiver.
